Panasonic’s AJ-SPX800 records on solid state memory called P2 (in the shape of a PC-MCIA card) instead of tape using the same prism based imager as the SDX900, although with 14 bit instead of 12 bit digital signal processing. This 16:9 by 4:3 switchable camcorders has three 16:9, progressive, two by three inch 520000 pixel IT CCDs.
