more about High definition Video Cameras

Cameras or VTRs capable of recording progressive images in the 1080 format are indicated with a P or PsF after the frame rate. PsF is an acronym for progressive segmented frame recording, developed by Sony to record progressively scanned images on HDCAM recorders which are interlaced recorders. Each progressive frame is split into two fields in order to record it on tape. Because each frame is captured at a single temporal moment, there’s no vertical movement between the fields as there is when interlaced scanning is used. Consequently there’s no loss of vertical resolution due to the interlace factor when the image is reassembled for display or postproduction.
