Panasonic’s AJ-SPX800

Panasonic’s AJ-SPX800 records on solid state memory called P2 (in the shape of a PC-MCIA card) instead of tape using the same prism based imager as the SDX900, although with 14 bit instead of 12 bit digital signal processing. This 16:9 by 4:3 switchable camcorders has three 16:9, progressive, two by three inch 520000 pixel IT CCDs. Operators can select to record at 25 Mbps with 4:1:1 color sampling can be inserted into the camcorder. The camera can capture at 60 fields per second or 30 or 24 frames per second. Only the actual frames captured by the camera are stored on the P2 memory cards. Consequently, only one pull down arrangement the standard one is needed to output 24 frame material.
